How does Equipment Inheritance work?
Equipment Inheritance moves stats from one weapon (the material) onto another weapon of the same type (the target). The target keeps its weapon bonuses (the game calls them special attributes), its old stats are wiped, and the material weapon stays in your inventory but becomes bound. So you can finally have your best stats AND the bonuses of a new Epic schematic on one weapon.
The new crafting meta
- Make your new Epic weapon for the BONUS passives only, completely ignore stats. Reforge until you get a passive from S to B tier in the passives tier list, lock it and keep reforging until you get a second one. A level 1 passive is fine, what matters is having the right one. Aim for a Legendary one if you can: the rarity never changes after, Legendary has 6 slots for stats and bonuses instead of 4, and its caps are higher than Epic (Longsword Blunt Damage caps at 240 on Legendary, 192 on Epic).
- Transfer your stats from your old weapon into this new Epic weapon, for example Slashing Damage, Slashing Armour Penetration and Strength. A Legendary with 2 bonuses takes up to 4 stats, an Epic with 1 bonus up to 3. Your old weapon is kept, but bound. Each stat must still be above 60% of its max AFTER the merge, or you cannot hone and you are stuck.
- Hone it into a perfect weapon. Keep all your hone stones for this first perfect weapon, see the honing system.
Every bonus on the target is one stat less.
Not just for veterans. It also polishes the RNG for new players. You still craft, then reforge until one of your two main stats (damage or its penetration) lands, lock it, and chase the other. But instead of crafting and praying for one weapon to roll good stats AND the right bonus, you now split the job in two: a bonus weapon and a stat weapon, then you transfer.
The rules
- Same weapon type, and both weapons must have been reforged.
- Material: a weapon from any Epic schematic, old or new. Target: only a weapon from the new Epic Weapon Schematics (Schematic Selection Box ones count).
- How many stats: the target's stats plus its bonuses can reach 4 on an Epic weapon and 6 on a Legendary one, never more.
- Cost: per stat moved, in New Epic Weapon Schematics for that same weapon: 3, 6, 9, 10, 11 or 12 for 1 to 6 stats.
- Stats lose 8% when they move. On the screen below, 212 Slashing Armour Penetration lands as 180: that 32 drop is 8% of the stat's max on the material (404), not 8% of 212, so the cut looks to be taken from the max.
- Honing is re-checked after the cut, against the target's stat caps. A stat under 60% of max after the merge cannot be honed. Close to the line? Hone that stat on the material first, then transfer.
- Binding: the target stays unbound only if the schematics, the material and the target are all unbound. The material always becomes bound.
- No limit: the same weapon can be a target again and again, and a material again and again.
Most asked
- What are the bonuses? The weapon passives written in yellow when you look at the weapon (the game calls them special attributes). They stay on the target and never transfer: only stats move.
- Can I pick which stats move? Yes, you click the ones you want, Armour or Strength included.
- Is my old weapon lost? No. It stays, but bound, and it can feed another target of the same type.
- Can I stack more stats with a second inheritance? No. Every inheritance wipes the target's stats again and keeps only its bonuses.
- Does it change the rarity? No. A purple weapon with your bonuses stays purple. That is why the bonus weapon should be Legendary if you can get it.
- Rare (blue) weapons? No, Epic schematics only. New to them? See how to get Epic schematics.
- A stat would land under 60%? Hone it on your old weapon first until it clears, then transfer.
- Under the line on a Legendary? Its higher caps raise the 60% line. On the screen below, 212 Slashing Armour Penetration shows 87.6% of the line on Epic, 63.2% on Legendary.
